Light from quartz tungsten halogen lamp (QTH) lamps is emitted by a heated filament. The filament is enclosed in a quartz envelope filled with gases. The spectral distribution is close to that of a blackbody curve with a color temperature of approximately 3000K.
Such objects include the Sun and the planets, certain stars, nebulae, and galaxies. A number of known infrared sources can be observed at the wavelengths of visible light and in certain cases at radio and X-ray wavelengths as well.
Infrared radiation (IR), or infrared light, is a type of radiant energy that’s invisible to human eyes but that we can feel as heat. All objects in the universe emit some level of IR radiation, but two of the most obvious sources are the sun and fire.
Because infrared panels heat objects, there is little air circulation taking place. As a result, dust does not whirl up, as is the case with convection heating. Another disadvantage of convection heating is the creation of condensation on the walls. This in turn causes mold and bacteria on the walls.
Infrared waves, or infrared light, are part of the electromagnetic spectrum. People encounter Infrared waves every day; the human eye cannot see it, but humans can detect it as heat. A remote control uses light waves just beyond the visible spectrum of light—infrared light waves—to change channels on your TV.
Lasers are beams of light, which produce heat. If a laser makes sustained contact with sensitive materials, such as a camera sensor, it causes physical damage. To disable a security camera with a laser pointer is incredibly hard. In extreme cases, it can actually melt the sensor.
