The very back of the gasoline CR-V has 39.2 cubic feet of cargo volume regardless of trim. This space can be expended by folding down the rear row of seats. With the rear row down, you can fit 75.8 cubic feet of cargo, which is nearly twice as much space!
The answer to “Can I fit a bed in the Honda CR-V?” is a simple one: yes! In fact, you could probably move all of your possessions with the Honda CR-V trunk space.
The bottom line – You can fit a full size mattress in an SUV Before attempting to fit the mattress, fold down the back seats, pull the front seats as much as comfortably possible, and grab a tape measure to check the dimensions. If it can almost fit inside, you will be fine as you can bend the mattress a bit.
You should be able to transport a mattress just fine, on top of the wheel wells, with either the seats moved fully forward or with the mattress folded a bit at the edges, long ways. If You’re looking to take a nap back there, it’s a no go.
A hard on won’t for inside a Rav4, much less a queen mattress. Queen Latifah won’t fit (or get) inside a Rav4, much less a Queen box spring.
If it is a traditional mattress, the mattress dimensions will determine what size of vehicle you need. If you don’t have access to a pickup truck or cargo van, a Full size mattress will likely be the largest size you can haul.
If you have to store your mattress in a garage or storage unit, keep it covered to protect not only against dirt and dust, but also moisture. Mattress storage bags are available at many hardware stores and among Access’s available on-site packing and moving supplies.
Fold up your mattress Folding up your mattress will make it easier for just one person to move, especially if you’re moving a larger mattress like a queen, king, or California king. Folding a mattress will probably only work if you have an all-foam mattress that’s medium to thin in thickness (8-11” thick).
If you have to move a large mattress yourself, place an old blanket underneath it and drag it up the stairs. Pull the mattress, with the blanket underneath it, to slide it around the top corner to its destination.
