Brake lines aren’t routed the same way in all vehicles. However, replacing your brake line is usually a quick process. With a professional mechanic, it takes about one to two hours. Your mechanic will have to remove the old brake line and put in a new one, or splice the bad section and replace it.
If you have a leaking brake line, you can usually find a place where the line isnt too horribly rusted. If you cut the line and pinch the end together so it is flat and both sides are touching (side cutters usually work well), you can use a pen torch and some regular electrical solder to plug the line.
You can not use regular rubber line with a brake system. First, even with a barbed or rolled end, the clamps will not stand up to the 100+ psi. Second, brake fluid is not kind to rubber hoses. Third, the pressure will burst regular line even if the clamps held.
A brake system needs no lubricants or sealers if assembled correctly. If you find a need for any of those products, you have a bad flare, bad fittings, or the fitting is still too loose. If you do want to lube the fittings, use only clean brake fluid.
The short answer is no–they do not. The more important point is that you should never attempt to use Teflon tape when attaching brake lines. Not only do brake lines not need Teflon tape, it would be dangerous to use Teflon tape on your brake lines in the first place.

Loctite 5452 thread sealant is for use on high-pressure hydraulic and pneumatic metal fittings. It cures four times faster than anaerobic sealants on stainless steel or inert metals. It works on any size NPT, O-ring boss, or JIC fitting, and prevents rotation and leakage.
You don’t need or should use any teflon tape or pipe dope on hydraulic fittings. Neither are designed for those kinds of pressures and using them could create a less then perfect mating between connection surfaces causing more harm than good.

Use New O-rings on Hydraulic Fittings O-rings ensure a tight, leak-free seal. If you try to reuse an O-ring, there is a good chance that it will be cracked, and that will ruin the seal’s integrity even if you have a new fitting.
