But the preparation for sociology optional must be started from covering basics from the NCERT books of 11th and 12th. One can write answers of questions given at the end of each chapter of NCERT book so that analysis of particular topic or the analysis of basics of sociology optional can be prepared very well.
Since then I tried many ways to turn things around and fortunately I could improve my sociology marks to 319 in CSE 2018 (Paper 1 =154 + Paper 2 =165)….

Sociology and Geography: Which Is The Best Optional Subject For UPSC. Both Sociology and Geography are popular optionals in the Civil Services Exam. Geography surpasses Sociology if you look at the absolute numbers of candidates opting for the subjects. In fact, both subjects are considered scoring.

Answer. No class 12 marks don’t matter for SSC and UPSC. The eligibility for civil services is that you should hold a Bachelor’s degree from any recognised institution in respective subjects.
It is not possible to become an IAS Officer right after completing 12th standard! In order to become an IAS Officer, you must apply for CSE exam conducted by the UPSC. You must also crack the exam (preliminary, mains and interview) in order to get selected for the training.
The age of retirement is 60 years and not 58 as mentioned. The IAS &IPS have looted India in the last 74 yrs. of Independence.
