Push-starting a motorcycle just eliminates the need to use the starting system. Be sure, then, that your battery or starter is at fault. If the battery has enough juice to shine the headlight fairly brightly, you can probably pop-start your bike.
#1 Don’t Keep Your Car In Gear When You’re At A Stop Light. Why It’s Bad: Your clutch will suffer from unnecessary wear and tear. Instead, toss it in neutral and let the clutch out. This allows it to “relax,” so to speak.
If you do not rev match, you are saving wear on your clutch and transmission by not downshifting. If you do, you are causing very little to no additional wear on your clutch and transmission by downshifting, all the while saving fuel and being better in control of your car.
You can skip gears on a motorcycle. It is possible to safely skip multiple gears while downshifting or upshifting. However, to be able to properly skip gears on a motorcycle without that putting the rider in danger, the engine speed, wheels speed, and gear should all be appropriately matched.
It’s not going to hurt the bike if you take off in second gear from time to time though. It will probably be harder on the clutch of a smaller-engined bike than a bigger-engined one with more torque.
It’s a totally fluid coupling, and since there’s no clutch plate to wear down, it doesn’t pose a real risk. Most automatic transmissions have a W (Winter) mode that starts off in second gear to help prevent the tires from spinning on slick pavement. So, for most drivers, starting in second gear is really no issue.

You probably did no immediate damage. Most cars have an electronic limiter that keep the engine RPM from going into the redline, which could cause a blown engine. However, if you kept doing that, your engine would wear out a lot faster.
